About Zhabstok Ladakh
ZhabstokLadakh is the official Youth Internship Portal of the Department of School Education, Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, launched as part of Youth Month. It lets students apply for internships across departments of the UT Ladakh administration through a single application, giving young people in Ladakh a chance to work with, and learn from, their own government. Placements depend on seats available in each department and are not guaranteed to every applicant, but the department makes a genuine effort to place as many eligible candidates as it can.
The name comes from the Ladakhi/Tibetan word ཞབས་ཏོག (zhabs tog), meaning “service” — an honorific term built from zhabs (“feet,” used respectfully for someone held in high regard) and tog (“to attend to” or “serve”), together conveying devoted service or attendance. It’s a word long used in Ladakh for service to one’s community and institutions. We chose it because that’s exactly what this internship is meant to be: young Ladakhis stepping forward to serve — and learn from — the governance of their own Union Territory.
